Why We Eat the Way We Do
Here’s our stance: a great night in Amarillo isn’t just a plate—it’s the triangle of food, room, and people. When those three click, a Tuesday feels like an occasion and an anniversary feels effortless. Yellow City Table exists to chase that click, document it, and nudge it into happening more often.
Five Things We Believe
Taste wins, but context matters. A perfect salsa in a loud, happy room beats a flawless sauce in a joyless one.
Value isn’t cheap; it’s proportion. Portion, price, quality, and how long you smile after—those should line up.
Hospitality is a verb. The host who finds you the good seat changes the meal as much as salt.
Opinions should help. If something misses, we’ll say what we think could be improved—and we’ll always give it a second try!
Home cooking counts. The best restaurants send you home wanting to cook better; our kitchen notes return the favor.
How We’ll Write
Short, clear, occasionally salty. We’ll talk about plates and pacing, light and noise, when to go and why to linger. We’ll argue (nicely) with each other and let you in on the debate. When we cook, it’ll be weeknight-real—technique forward, gadget light, and tested enough to earn a repeat.
What We’re Looking For
Dishes that stick in your head on Wednesday afternoon.
Rooms that make you exhale at the door.
People who care—owners, cooks, servers, bartenders—the small decisions that add up to “one more round?”
What We’re Not Doing
No gotcha reviews or dunking for sport.
No pay-to-say. If we ever accept a tasting, you’ll see it in bold.
No pretending there’s one right way to eat. Preference is part of the fun.
Your Turn
Tell us where the triangle clicks for you: the booth with the easy conversation, the dish you think about later, the neighborhood corner that feels like a secret.
Comment, DM @yellowcitytable, or email megg@yellowcitytable.com. We’ll bring curiosity—and probably ask what seat you chose.
Amarillo has more good nights than most people give it credit for. We plan to prove it, one bite and one room at a time.
